NHS Wales uses Solgari for Microsoft Dynamics 365 to rapidly deliver a Scalable Contact Tracing Solution

NHS Wales is the publicly funded healthcare system in Wales and one of the four systems which make up the National Health Service in the United Kingdom.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, NHS Wales moved quickly to set up an automated contact tracing solution using Microsoft Dynamics 365, to facilitate outreach to citizens across SMS and Voice.
Working in a highly pressurized healthcare emergency, the NHS team targeted having the system live within 2 weeks to help curb the spread of the virus through effective contact tracing across Wales.
What did we do?
- NHS Wales IT team, Microsoft and Solgari worked closely together on the stand up of the Dynamics 365 citizen database and to rapidly deploy our voice 2-way automated SMS and voice solution within Dynamics 365.
- The solution was live within 10 days and launched with 1,250 NHS and local council staff undertaking contact tracing outreach based on the daily SMS responses from the population.
NHS Outcomes
- The solution delivered automated 2-way SMS contact tracing daily across all registered citizens providing crucial interaction with the public.
- Based on the data captured from the SMS communications, NHS Wales had relevant reporting on the likely spread of the virus.
- As a cloud solution, all NHS and local council staff worked from home.
- The solution rapidly scaled to 4,500 staff as NHS Wales strived to deal with the spread of the virus, handling a substantial 1.2 million SMS and 350,000 calls per month.
